Artist and GMU Faculty member, Jessica Kallista will lead a grounding meditation to open the show. Refreshments provided.

Jessica Kallista’s Embodied Grounding Meditation:
Our higher selves are on an adventure in this Earth Realm to learn the most powerful soul lessons while also celebrating the magic of childlike wonder, awe, pleasure, and play. However, the stress and busy-ness of life can often leave us disconnected from our bodies, our surroundings, and one another. We rush through our work and daily activities, we fantasize about the future, we ruminate over the past. To be in the present moment, in the gallery space, and with one another, we will utilize visualization and breath work to bring our energy in and down, get back into our bodies, and be more mindfully embodied and reconnected as we experience Cast/Recast. 

About the exhibit:
Mason Exhibitions is honored to present a new iteration of Cast/Recast, a group exhibition originated at Mason Exhibitions Arlington in the Fall of 2022. The Gillespie Gallery exhibit includes works from 22 women artists working in the DMV region including GMU School of Art alumni and faculty.

Cast/Recast fills Gillespie Gallery at GMU’s Art and Design Building with installations, sculptures, altars, manifestos, performance documentation, paintings, photographs, wallpaper, a soundtrack, and a portal.

Participating artists include: Rahne Alexander, Laure Drogoul, Cheryl Edwards, Heloisa Escudero, Maggie Gourlay, Mira Hecht, Kay Hwang, Veronica Jackson, Jessica Kallista, Maria Karametou, Isabel Manalo, Ceci Cole McInturff, Meeting Ground (Susan Main and MJ Neuberger), Zia Palmer, Judith Pratt, Lisa Rosenstein, Nicole Salimbene, Asha Santee, Katherine Thompson, Jessica Valoris, and Naoko Wowsugi
